GUCU subscription rates
This branch notes:
- At GUCU’s AGM in 2020 the branch accepted the former GUCU treasurer’s recommendation to explore making branch subscriptions fairer across the board by introducing tapered rates instead of the current flat rate of £4 for those earning above £15,000 and £2 for those earning between £5000-£14,999 (see below for more detail).
- Job insecurity and long-term decline in incomes – now intensified by the cost of living crisis – have put enormous pressure on members, especially the lower paid on precarious contracts.
- The need to maintain a consistent branch income from local subs in order to support on-going activity to defend members against sustained attacks on jobs, conditions and education at a local and national level.
- The effective use of tapered rates by other UCU branches https://www.ucu.org.uk/localsubs
