‘Can you hear me?’ – a conversation with Sociology students and staff

Like many departments at Goldsmiths, our relationships with students in Sociology encourage critical dialogue and exchange. We see dialogue as crucial in teaching and learning and resisting the neo-liberal framing of study that would pit us against each other.

On the 14th of July, two undergraduate students, Poppy Septembers-Peters and Rosette Jaminki talked to Svenja Bromberg (Lecturer) and Kiran Grewal (Reader) about the 2019 and 2020 UCU strikes. The following recording “Can you hear me?” is part of a bigger conversation that also covered the risks and opportunities of the pandemic and the move to online teaching.

In this conversation Rosette and Poppy asked about why the strikes were necessary and pose the difficult question of what they achieved.
