Statement in support of Dr Aminul Hoque

Statement from GUCU Executive 05.05.2021

“We are deeply concerned to hear that our colleague Dr Aminul Hoque has not been reappointed to his post at the National Maritime Museum. It would appear from the press that this is a case of direct government interference in the appointments process of a national cultural institution. Dr Hoque’s contribution to the museum was unique as he is an expert on how the Bengali community have played their part in London life and work. We wish to draw this matter to the attention of other universities and cultural institutions.”
